Other Than Professional Training, What Do Top Hairdressers Need To Succeed? Part 2

2. A place to work with like minded stylists that want to produce a great experience for their customers:

This would seem like a no-brainer, but, we know instinctively that it isn’t like this in many salons. You’ll also have conceited and even immature natures with some of the hairstylists that is not helpful to giving an incredible experience to all those that come into your salon. And the exact reverse of a good experience takes place and even new prospects can walk in and realize that things aren’t right in the salon that makes them nervous, and then you are tearing apart the essence of what will help build your future.

Putting personalities aside is very important in developing a shop that allows the customers to enjoy a great experience. We have all had to work with those that always seemed to stir the pot constantly, and most all of us has not liked the situation. So, look out for that and make sure that you aren’t one of those that cause some of the tension in your salon.

I realize that we tend to think that we’re competing with all the stylists in our salons, but this isn’t true. But you are competing with those other salons in your area, so get together with all the other stylists in your salon and develop a strategy that brings in more new customers and more importantly … brings them in again to establish the second and third visit that cultivates those loyal clients you want to build a salon.

You have got to work to make your salon the “happening place” in town, where folks enjoy being seen there walking out with their new look. Isn’t this where your clients come to be pampered even for only a short period of time?

I just had my scheduled cut and I’ve got to tell you that my stylist spends five minutes just washing my hair. Is it that dirty? Well, NO! But she realizes that as she shampoos she also massages my head during this time and I’ll shout it from the roof tops … it feels great, while she does this to me.

So I told her that in difficult economic times like these that we’re experiencing right now, giving extra value to your customers will keep them coming back to you. Period! And I constantly go from salon to salon to learn exactly what hairdressers in my town are doing so I can write to you about all my experiences.

And the unique thing about this salon where my stylist rents her room … it is filled with like minded stylists that go the extra mile to pamper their customers and that salon is always busy.

Now, I’ve visited this salon only two times so far, but I will learn more about their strategies and find out more about how they dominate the town where I live. Oh yea, ask anyone in Pensacola about this particular salon and, it is well known.
