Crucial Necessary Last Minute Skin Care Materials

Today’s society is educated on the intricacies of man skin care. Thanks to the information fed by the media, most are aware of the skin products which suit their needs.

Appearance plays a large role in how a person is perceived which is why it has been elevated in importance. When it comes to skin, men are more blessed. Their skin is 20% thicker. Men usually receive less fine lines and age is much kinder to them. The industry produces many male skin care materials despite some opposition from their audience that skin care is exclusively a female worry.

Everybody listen up. Here’s list of skin care necessities:

(1) Sunscreen. Too much tanning kills the skin making it more suspectible to cancer and early aging. When you hit the beach, don’t neglect to apply liberal amounts of sunscreen.

(2) Cleansers. Acne-free skin needs cleanliness. There can’t be oil or dead skin on the surface. Some men have oily and sensitive skin so they might have to look into special cleansers. In general, man skin care is limited to soap.

(3) Retinoid. Retinoid clears your pores and helps with overly-sun-exposed skin.

(4) Razors. Razors with at least 3 blades can help to remove dead skin. However, watch out because some have found ingrown hairs to be a side effect. If you’re one of them, an electric shaver should eliminate the problem.

(5) Aftershave. Male skin care includes aftershave applications. Choose one that’s alcohol-free because it dries your skin. Also get one with moisturizer and disinfectant so that you soften your skin while simultaneously become ingrown hair-free.

Females have many more options to review. Here’s advice you’ll want to remember making considerations:

Facial Cleaners

Skin doctors endorse cetaphil for its lack of preservatives. The Xtend-Life line of products is a sure win here. These are the best bang for the buck when it comes to quality and effectiveness.

Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser has shea butter. For oily skin, choose something like Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash. If your skin is in between normal and oily, Dove Essential Nutrients Self-Foaming Cleanser attacks oil. Bloom Facial Cleaners is highly popular with the aromatherapy crowd because it has lavender. If your budget isn’t big and your skin is sensitive, go for Avon Clear Skin Foaming Cleanser. If you want to combat blemishes without drying out your skin, try Neutrogena Pore-Refining Cleanser. If money is no object, Murad Acne Kit is for you because it cleanses, exfoliates, and treats blemishes.

Moisturizers

Moisturizers make your skin soft to touch and sweet to smell. For dry skin, you need glycerin and hyaluronic acid. Dove Sensitive Essential Day Lotion is recommended for its lightness and for being dye and fragrance-free. Lancôme Absolute Night Treatment is desirable for its natural components such as soy. Crème de la Mer is an awesome moisturizer. Oily-skin victims fear not! Get a product that’s oil-free (not non-pore clogging). One suitable moisturizer is Lorac Oil-Free Moisturizer. People who are in between normal and oily need a gel like Aveeno Positively Smooth Facial Moisturizer.

Man skin care is important, not only for your health, but also for your looks. How you portray yourself to society can sometimes command how far you will go in terms of success and building friendships. Try the Xtend-Life line of products and notice the difference it can make for your male skin care routine, self-esteem and appeal.

Aging Gracefully: Skin Care in Your 20′s, 30′s, 40′s, and Beyond

How to keep your skin looking great!

Invest some time and care!

Everyone wants to have younger looking skin. Unfortunately, even the most expensive skin care products, with all their claims of ‘reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles’, can’t turn back the years. However, don’t despair! There are steps that we can all take to make sure our skin looks healthy and vibrant and stays wrinkle-free for longer. All we’ve got to do is invest some time and care in looking after it.

It is important to understand the basic function of our skin in order to look after it properly. The skin is our body’s largest organ and comprises three major layers:

The Epidermis: This layer has five sub-layers; the outer layer consists of mainly dead cells which are continuously shed and replaced by cells beneath. The epidermis is also responsible for ‘water proofing’ your skin, protecting your skin from potential invasion of microbes and generate new skin cells which move from the deep layer of the epidermis to the outer layer, where they are eventually shed.

The Dermis: Is the ‘middle layer of the skin and is composed of connective tissue containing collagen and elastin. The dermis is thick in the palms and soles and very thin in the eyelids. It contains blood vessels, nerves, glands, and hair follicles.

The Subcutaneous layer: This layer consists of areolar and adipose tissue. Fibres from the dermis extend down into the subcutaneous layer and anchor the skin to it. The subcutaneous layer, in turn, attaches to underlying tissues and organs.

Aging of the skin

There are several factors influencing how quickly our skin ages, ranging from genetic factors, your natural skin type, as well as external factors such as exposure to sunlight, environmental factors and whether you smoke or not. In general, pale skins wrinkle faster than darker skins, which are protected by increased amounts of pigment and lipids.

Another vital factor is, of course, our age. Our skin looks and functions very differently at 20 as opposed to when we are 60.

Below is a skin care plan of how to look after your skin as the decades go by and how to adapt your skin care regime accordingly.

Looking after your skin in your 20s

Your 20s is a great time for your skin. You’ve left behind the adolescence acne and your skin has a radiant, youthful glow and the epidermis is well toned.

However, this is not the time to be complacent. In your 20s skin cell renewal drops by up to 28 per cent, dead skin cells are not as easily shed and external factors are starting to have a greater impact, leaving your skin slightly duller.

According to dermatologists, 80 per cent of all aging can be directly related to exposure to sunlight. Therefore, it is a good idea to avoid the mid-day sun, or if you have to be out in the heat of the day (especially in countries like Australia), than cover up. Penetrating UVA rays will start to damage collagen fibres and elastin coils in your skin.

Smoking one factor you can control and now would be a good time to quite. Smoking inhibits oxygen getting to the outer layer of your skin and has a premature aging effect. In addition, smoking can cause fine lines around the mouth over the years and this is to be avoided – if you want to keep your good looks.

Looking after your skin in your 30s

By the time you get to your 30s skin cell turnover has slowed. Environmental damage from pollution, smoke and sunlight are starting to take their toll on the dermis, causing collagen fibres to loosen so that skin starts to loose its tone and develop fine lines and wrinkles. When you smile, subcutaneous fat forms ridges and refuse to bounce back as readily as it once did. Your first wrinkles may start to appear.

By now you should have established a daily skincare regime that involves exfoliating (two or three times a week), cleansing, moisturising and sun protection for your skin. In your 30s, it’s important to maintain a balanced diet consisting of fresh fruits, vegetables, grains and fish, which are high in antioxidants such as Vitamins A, B, C and E. These Vitamins counteract free radicals in your body that help the skin to repair itself, produce the enzymes that stabilise collagen production, and stay moist and healthy. For further protection, try using a day crème, such as one that contains vitamin E, for example: Wildcrafted’s Age Defying Essence.

Alcohol should only be consumed in moderation as it deprives your skin of vital nutrients and may cause your facial blood vessels to become dilated leading to permanent, red ‘spider veins’ on your cheeks and in men often across the nose.

Maintaining well hydrated tissues by drinking plenty of water each and every day (3 litres a day is not at all excessive) is vital to retain moisture in your skin. In addition, you should ensure that you get enough quality sleep.

Looking after your skin in your 40s

In your 40s, collagen fibres decrease in number, stiffen, break apart, and form into a shapeless, matted tangle. Elastic fibres lose some of their elasticity, thicken into clumps, and fray. The result is the skin forms crevices and furrows known as lines and wrinkles. In addition, loss of fat in the subcutaneous layer leaves your skin more fragile, whereas the dermis will continue to lose its elasticity. A rich nourishing night crème, such as Wildcrafted’s rejuvenating night crème, becomes a vital part of your skin care regime.

During this time the stratum corneum (the outer layer of the epidermis) starts to grow even thicker, as dead skin cells hang around for longer. If you are not already using an exfoliant regularly, now is a good time to get into the habit of exfoliating your skin regularly using a facial scrub – 2-3 times a week is all that’s necessary. You could also use a cream containing Rose oil, Jojoba oil or similar, as these contain natural AHA’s (alpha hydroxy acids) and to help remove dead skin cells.

As deeper wrinkles start to form, you may wish to use a complete skin care system, which systematically helps you to nourish and moisturise your skin on all levels. Choose natural skin care products for your daily skin care regime, as you do not want to introduce unnecessary toxins into your system by using products full of unpronounceable chemicals. Quality natural skin care systems, such as Wildcrafted’s range of natural skin care systems should be matched to your specific skin type.

Looking after your skin in your 50s and above

As we reach our 50s and beyond, the hair and nails grow more slowly. Langerhans cells (involved in the immune response, dwindle in number, thus decreasing the immune responsiveness of older skin. Decreased size of sebaceous (oil) glands leads to dry and broken skin that is more susceptible to infection.

In women, after the menopause, decreased oestrogen levels mean that skin lose its plumpness and tone, and it may be left dry, itchy and more sensitive to allergens.

At this stage in your life it is important to take that extra care of your skin’s health. Mature skin is more fragile, prone to injury and infection and bruises easily. As if this was not bad enough, it also takes longer to heal. Taking care of your skin will reduce the aging effect; keep it healthier as well as more resistant to injury and infections. Remember, a face that has a lived in look is much more attractive than a Botox face and character is much more beauty.

Acne Skin Care: 8 Simple Tips To Follow

Commonly affecting the skin condition of people between ages 12 to 24 is a disease called acne. The cause of acne is hard to determine. However, over secretion of the sebaceous glands is pointed as the cause to trigger most acne outbreaks.

Pilosebaceous units are the combination of the hair follicles and oil glands in the skin. Except for the surface of the palms and the soles of the feet, pilosabaceous units are found on the skin tissue throughout the body . They are responsible in secreting the oily substance called sebum. However, due to many factors (e.g. hormonal imbalances, stress and the skin’s natural condition) the oil glands may be induced to produce more sebum than normal. When this happens, the excess oil plugs the skin pores. This process brings about bacterial infection and stimulate the reaction of the immune system. In the end, acne inflammation results.

Acne can strike at any skin type. An oily skin type is most subseptible to acne. Dry skin on the other hand, may not be as susceptible but serious outbreaks may occur during winter. Normal skin is equally susceptible to acne but the level of severity may not be as high.

Presently, acne is not yet totally curable but can be remedied with several acne skin care methods. Many seek the help of topical medications, which are applied on the surface of the skin. However, employing the use of acne skin care products like “pore strip pads” may remove whiteheads and blackheads but they would not have any effect on the excess sebum produced.

Nevertheless, for remedy and prevention, it is best to employ the following 8 simple tips:

1. A healthy, well-balanced diet must be observed. Therefore, your food intake must incorporate all the essential nutrients the body needs for efficient functioning.

2. Drink plenty of fluids like water, juices. Minimize the intake of carbonated drinks.

3. No make up is recommended.

4. Wash your face with mild soap and water. The logic is to not remove the dirt (as the majority of acne-inflicted person perceive) but to remove the plugs on the skin pores, which may be a combination of dead skin cells, bacteria and hardened sebum. Although dirt is not truly the cause of acne, it may contribute to further infection through its interaction with skin debris and particles and extra oil in the skin.

5. Use topical cleansing pads that may contain one or the combination of the following: salicylic acid, sulfur and benzoyl peroxide to remove excess oil. Another way to minimize the presence of extra oil in the skin is to wash the face with the hottest water you can withstand.

6. Minimize the use of harsh cleansers and use acne skin care items that exfoliate mildly. Do not scrub vigorously to the affected areas.

7. If your hands are dirty, refrain from touching your face.

8. If you have long hair, tie up your hair so that it is kept away from the face. This is especially so if the weather is hot and you have been perspiring.

Preventative acne skin care steps are just as important as the treatment of acne itself. With prevention, at least, you know how to ensure that your acne problem does not escalate and spread to a bigger infected area.

After Hair Transplant Care

After hair transplant care is something that patients who undergo a hair transplant procedure need to know and follow closely.

Here is the post-op instruction of the patients at US Hair Restoration. Different hair restoration clinics may have different post-op care and instructions due to their different surgical methods.

Patients who had a hair transplant surgery using a strip technique usually leave our hair transplant center with a bandage around their head. The bandage is used only to support the newly closed donor wound on the back of scalp. Patients are given prescription for pain and anti-inflammatory medications for first few days after surgery. The first night after hair transplant surgery, patient needs to be cautious not to rub or scratch the transplanted area. It is recommend that all patients take it easy for the first days and avoid heavy physical exercises.

All patients need to come back for physician evaluation and hair wash the day after surgery. During this first visit, the bandage is removed and donor wound and the transplanted hair is assessed. The donor and recipient areas need to be washed very carefully while teaching the patient how to wash it at home during day two to four after hair transplantation. Hair wash after hair transplant surgery needs to be done twice a day with a special method to minimize the probability of dislodging the grafts. Patients ask if they can skip washing hair within the first few days to avoid damaging the grafts. The answer is “No”. Hair wash is a key step in hair transplant care that guaranties the normal growth of the transplanted hair follicular grafts. Follow up in ten days should also be part of after hair transplant care for patient who have FUE (follicular unit extraction) hair transplant, eyebrow hair transplant, hair transplant repair or body hair transplants.

There are some restrictions in patient’s physical activities after hair transplants. Some clinics recommend very strict rules for physical activities. It is preferred that patient keeps his normal daily activities with some minor limitations. The activities that add to the tension of the wound edges at donor area should be avoided for the first four weeks after surgery. Those activities are: extreme bending of neck and heavy weight lifting.

Patients need to go back to hair transplant clinic at day ten after hair transplant surgery to remove the staples (for patients who had strip surgery and donor is closed with metal staples) and to reevaluate the donor and recipient area. For the patients who have their donor closed with absorbable sutures, it is recommended to be seen in ten days to assess the healthiness of recipient and donor area, which includes patient’s who had FUE (follicular unit extraction) hair transplant, eyebrow hair transplant, hair transplant repair or body hair transplants. All follow up visits are included in the initial cost of hair transplant surgery and patients won’t be charged for any follow up visits.

Patient should avoid direct sun exposure to the recipient area for about six months after follicular unit transplant surgery. Extreme and direct sun exposure may harm the growing grafts. Sun contact may also cause skin changing the skin color.

And finally the last follow up appointment for their after hair transplant care is between months ten to eleven after their hair transplant surgery, when transplanted hair grows to its final thickness and length. At last session Dr. Parsa Mohebi evaluates the transplanted hair grafts and assesses the finial size and condition of donor scar. This visit is a good time for patients who want to consider a repeat surgery to increase the density of hair or cover the areas that has not been completely covered with first hair transplant surgery due to the limited scalp laxity or extended balding area. All patients who are planning for a repeat surgery do not have to wait that long and a repeat surgery could be done any time after month 5 after the initial hair transplant procedure.

At US Hair Restoration, a LA hair transplant surgery center, patients can also be seen as needed in addition to the above mentioned visits.

Dr. Parsa Mohebi is the medical director for US Hair Restoration. Re-establishing a patients? self image and self-esteem by using the most modern medical and surgical approach is one of Dr. Mohebi?s goals. He and his staff are highly committed to using the highest techniques and devices.

Dr. Parsa Mohebi is personally involved in all stages of patient care. Dr. Mohebi is collaborating with many academic centers on the topics of hair growth, gene therapy techniques and hair multiplications. Dr. Mohebi performed surgical internship at University of North Dakota followed by residency at University of New Mexico and York Hospital.

Dr. Mohebi then continued his aspirations in surgical research by joining the Department of Surgical Sciences at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. It was there that he performed several studies on wound healing and hair growth using growth factors and gene therapy methods.

His main focus has been dedicated towards the research of hair growth, hair multiplication, wound healing and psychology of hair loss. Dr. Mohebi completed a fellowship in surgical hair restoration at NHI.

Dr. Mohebi has many publications and presentations at national and international levels on hair loss, hair restoration and wound healing. He is involved in improving surgical methods and techniques on a daily basis. He is also the inventor of the Laxometer, a device that measures the mobility of the scalp before hair transplant procedure. Laxometer increases a surgeon?s accuracy and helps minimize the widening of scar tissue.

Skin Care Tips for Women Over 50

As a woman matures, skin care and makeup application changes but they always go hand in hand to create beauty. More focused attention to skin care is in order. “Less is more” when it comes to makeup. Makeup should be applied and colors should be chosen in a way that helps lift the face to make you look younger and more attractive. Your cosmetics should never be used as something to hide behind, rather your makeup and skin care should be used to enhance and accent the mature beauty that you have become.

Body hair in new places is something you can count on – again; it’s hormones in action. You may want to start shaving some places where body hair grows, but whether you do is up to you. Some guys who grow facial hair like to let it develop into a mustache and beard. Some girls may decide to leave the hair on their legs and under their arms as is. It’s all up to you and what you feel comfortable with. Brush your tongue.

Remember how stunning the ladies were in the 1950′s? That style worked beautiful back then, but if you’ve recently been asked if you’re going to sock hop, it’s time to box up those old Look Magazines and run–not walk–into the 21st century. Get as many fashion magazines as you can find, and don’t overlook the internet, the best free resource for ordering magazines, finding hairstyles, clothes, shoes, and an abundance of attitude for today’s mature woman.

The more you keep your body hydrated the longer your skin will stay elastic and supple. Your inside will be happy as well and be less likely to hold on to water weight due to “water feminine” just like your body adjusts and slows down your metabolism for “calorie famine” when you severely cut back on eating.

Beautiful skin, a beautiful body and a beautiful sense of style does not have an end once you hit 50s. There’s very little difference between the recommended diet and exercise habits for a 20-year-old and that of a 50-year-old. In fact, the only difference is that a healthy diet and regular exercise are more important than ever. During the aging process, the key to keeping your body properly functioning and in shape is to eat healthy and stay active. At 50 and older, most adults are still capable of completing most exercises.

Place it to draw attention to your best asset. One nice ring (and I mean one, leave the extra rings at home Liberace!) or a nice bracelet will draw attention to your hands, a nice necklace will draw attention to your neck or, if it drops low, your bust, a great belt will draw attention to your waist, nice earring to your neck and face.

Don’t skip out on exercise. Who says you can’t exercise when you’re over 50? Heck, we’ve seen quite a few and they’ve outdone us at the gym! If you’ve never exercised before, talk with your doctor before beginning a program. As soon as you have an okay, try walking a few minutes a day and increase those minutes by every other day. If you have a dog, walk him or her.

Avoid applying blush to the cheekbones since this can make aging faces look overly thin. Instead, apply the blush to the apples of your cheeks and blend, blend, blend. Also, look for cream blush instead of powder. Powder tends to settle into fine lines and wrinkles, making them look extremely visible.

Bikini Area Hair Removal- Is Laser The Best Option

You can remove unwanted hair using different methods. When it comes to bikini area, it becomes tricky for many reasons. The site is sensitive. Self-shaving becomes difficult. Waxing may be very painful. Electrolysis may be time consuming? Laser may be costly. What should a girl do? Let us discuss.

Shaving-

With shaving, there are possibilities of bikini bumps. Shaving has to be repeated frequently and the stubble that grows after shaving may be irritating. There are also chances of cutting yourself with shaving.

Electrolysis-

With electrolysis the removal is practically permanent. But some people find it painful. It is also quite time taking. You have to expose yourself unlike shaving but that also applies to waxing and laser.

Waxing-

Waxing can be very painful. If you are taking Vitamin A derivatives or using them your skin can become very sensitive and tear. Waxing is also not permanent and it is reported that some parlors reuse the wax.

Laser-

This is a permanent method of removal. The hair may grow again but will be finer and less. Except cost, everything goes in favor of laser hair removal from bikini area. To know more about laser hair removal please click here- Laser Hair Removal

Cosmetics & Skin Care – Seven Rules for a Clean Beauty Routine

Brought to you by Proactiv Solution – treat acne and prevent future breakouts.

With so many products making so many claims, it’s easy to be confused by clever marketing. Fortunately, just a bit of education can get you on the path to choosing the proper cosmetics and using them wisely. Here are seven good rules to follow for a healthy make-up regimen:

1. Avoid penetrating oils. Contrary to popular belief, not all oils are comedogenic. Petroleum products, mineral oil and sunflower oil do not penetrate into the pore. Most cosmetic oils, however, can aggravate acne — so it’s best to avoid them. In general, products labelled “oil-free” and “non-comedogenic” are less likely to clog your pores and trigger breakouts.

2. Steer clear of sweet smells. Fragrance is a major cause of allergic and irritant reactions on the face. Even products that claim to be “unscented” may include fragrances added to mask the smell of other ingredients. It’s best to stick with products labelled as “fragrance-free” or “hypo-allergenic.” Of course, reactions to fragrance differ dramatically, and you may find certain perfumes that don’t affect your skin.

3. Be smart about shadow and blush. The stuff that puts the sparkle in your eye shadow, face powder and blush is usually mica, a common mineral. The jagged, flaky shape of mica particles can cause irritation and/or clogging in the follicle, so it’s best to use products without too much shimmer. Check the labels for blushes that use carmine, which has been a natural, healthy cosmetic colorant since the time of the Aztecs. Also, cream blushes are more likely to have comedogenic ingredients, so stick to powder or gel blushes.

4. Get wise to eye creams. Because of the delicacy of the skin around the eyes, creams created for this area are often thicker and greasier than regular facial moisturizers. Heavy eye creams and oily eye make-up removers can promote milia, tiny white cysts under the eyes. These kinds of products can also migrate to neighbouring areas, creating acne on the cheeks, temples and forehead.

5. Style your hair with care. Most hair products are full of the ingredients we’d like to keep away from our skin: alcohol, adhesives and oils. So if you’re prone to acne, use care when styling your hair — cover your skin when you spray, and try to keep oils, mousses, gels and pomades away from the skin at the hairline. And don’t use hair products when you exercise; perspiration from your scalp can carry styling products onto your skin, contributing to new breakouts.

6. Wash after exercising. While we know that sweat doesn’t cause acne, it can promote it in those who are prone — and make-up can make matters worse. Even non-comedogenic products can cause clogging or irritation in the presence of heavy perspiration. As a rule, it’s best to wash immediately after exercising with a medicated exfoliating cleanser.

7. Use the right lip lube. If you have problems with pimples around the mouth area, you might want to reconsider the products you use on your lips. Lipsticks and glosses are greasy by nature, with high concentrations of petroleum, wax and other comedogenic substances. The greater the shine, the greater the potential for pore-clogging — so if you’re breaking out, try going for a matte finish rather than a high gloss.

In general, it’s fine to doll up! Just choose your cosmetics carefully — look for products that are oil-free and non-comedogenic. Read labels carefully to avoid common topical triggers. And of course, use your common sense; if a product that looks okay on the label is irritating your skin, discontinue usage right away.
