How to Cut Men’s Hair – Learn How to Cut Hair at Home – You Can Do It

Learning how to cut men’s hair takes care and a little bit of patience…especially for the shorter styles. Shorter does not have to mean boring though. There are a lot of really great men’s styles and a lot of variation when it comes to technique. The first thing to consider is whether to cut the hair wet or dry. For cuts that are going to use clippers, the hair needs to be dry. If the hair is going to be scissor cut, then it is best if the hair is clean and wet.

For longer styles, the techniques and tools are much the same as those used for women’s haircuts. If you just want to trim the hair to extend the time between haircuts, then you will need some hair clips and a good pair of sharp hair scissors. After washing and conditioning the hair, shake it out to see the existing cut. Then clip up hair, leaving a section out, and cut following the previous lines. Make sure to only cut about a quarter inch to maintain the same look and feel as the existing style.

If you want to know how to cut men’s hair for shorter styles, it is best to start with a clear picture of the kind of style that is wanted. You’ll also need to take into consideration the texture of the hair, face shape and neck type. The texture of the hair and face shape is important because they need to go with the desired hair style. Use your judgment to decide if the style will work. Next, decide if you will block or fade the haircut along the neck.

For a slender neck, you might want to block the neckline to give the neck a thicker, wider appearance. Blocking is when you use the clippers to create a square edge to the end of the hairline. The hair outside of this square is shaved to the skin so that the lines are clean. It is best to create the block as far down and to the sides of the natural hairline along the neck as possible. It is important to do this as it will minimize the messy effect that is created when the hair begins to grow back in outside the blocked lines.

For a thicker neck, fading is best as it elongates the neck. This is also easier to maintain as the hair grows back in. Use the clippers closest to the skin at the bottom and outside edges of the natural hairline and sweep out and up toward the crown of the head. When using clippers, you may want to start with the plastic comb attachment to avoid any nicks in the skin. Begin with whole flat surface of the clipper blade touching the head (on either the sides or back etc.). As you move upward, pivot your clippers so that only the back (or heel) of the clipper blade is touching. From there you can move the clipper up and out of the hair as smoothly as possible. Repeat this on sections of the hair where you are using the clippers.

Knowing how to cut men’s hair like this takes some time and practice. Making sure that it is blended well is very important to have a nice, clean cut. You do not want to leave any clear or visible lines from one section of the hair to another. You might want to finish off a short cut by using the clipper-over-comb method to blend. Use a detachable blade clipper with a #1 ½ or higher and a regular fine tooth comb. As you run the comb through the hair, stop and run the clipper over the length of the comb to clip the ends that are showing through. Do not use a trimmer or short blade to do this as the blade will not give the proper feathered effect to the tips of the hair.

How to Cut Layers in Your Own Hair (4 Things You Will Need) – 4 Steps To Take

Are you one of the many women who would like to know how to cut layers in your own hair? It can be done affordability, easily, and quickly by following some simple rules and techniques. To begin, you must have the correct and proper tools before beginning any haircut. You will need:

1. A good pair of Hair Cutting Scissors – make sure they are sharp and the proper kind of scissors for cutting hair. They don’t need to be expensive, but they are a wise investment.

2. A set of hair clips – you will need 2-6 depending on how you want to cut your hair.

3. A ponytail holder

4. A well lit mirror

1. Decide on a TRIM or CUTNow that you have the proper tools, you need to decide if you are just giving yourself a trim or if you are going for a more drastic length cut. Knowing how to cut layers in your own hair gives you some options for lengthening time between your regular haircuts or really taking matters into your own hands to change your style. Let’s start with how to cut layers for a trim.

Trim 2.Begin by washing and conditioning your hair There is a reason they do this in the salon. Product can weigh down your hair and make it lay a way that it might not lay naturally. You will want to keep your hair slightly damp throughout the cut.

3.Shake out your hair To see where the existing layers fall. Use the clips the clip up the layers that are the shortest, starting with the top (or crown) of your head. Clip up all your hair until just the layer closest to your face is left. Follow the direction of the previous cut and trip hair about ¼ inches. Let down the next layer and repeat the cut. Do this until you have cut all your hair. Finish by cutting the ends all over with a small angled snip just at the very tips. Pull sections in a zigzag pattern to do this and take your time. For each 2 inch section you pull, snip about 3-4 of these small angled cuts. Shake out your hair when you are done and style as usual. If you would like to know how to cut layers in your own hair for a more dramatic look then the following steps are for you!

Cut

Again, start by washing and conditioning your hair. If you want a more subtle layer, with shorter ends on the top and sides of your hair graduating back, then you will need to gather your hair back into a ponytail at the middle back of your head. If you would like a more dramatic layering all around, then you will need to gather your hair into a ponytail more on the top of your head. You may want to flip your head forward or bend over to gather the hair evenly for this. Next, twist the hair in the ponytail to the right. Cut off the length of hair you desire. We suggest ½ or 1 inch increments until you reach the desired length. Let go of hair and then twist the ponytail to the left. Cut off any hair that does not seem even or is sticking out of the ponytail end. Take down the ponytail and shake out your hair. You now have your layered look! Finish by cutting the ends all over with the small angled snips at the end as described above and you are done.

How to Cut Layers in Your Own Hair Even If it Is Wavy

Wavy and curly hair is best cut in long layers. Layers should start along the jaw line and continue farther down. The back of the head should have less and longer layers so that the hair falls evenly. Learning how to cut layers in your own hair can have great advantages. First you will learn exactly how you own hair lays and how it should be cut to look its best. Sometimes it is hard to explain to someone else what you are talking about when you say it just does not lay evenly if it ids cut to short.

How to cut wavy hair in layers: Make sure that you have a good pair of sharp hair cutting scissors. Wash and condition the hair. This is very important because hair will not lay the same if you are in between shampoos. Pull the hair back into a ponytail at the back of the head. Slide the hair in the ponytail between your middle and index fingers until you reach the ends of the hair. You can do this in sections starting at the top of the ponytail if the hair is thick. Cut the hair across the section. Start with cutting only a one half inch to 1 inch of hair until you reach your desired length. do not cut to much off because remember that you can not put it back on but you can cut some more off. There is nothing worse that a bad haircut that is already to short. Until you get the hang of cutting your own hair this is the best practice to go by.

If you have the proper tool, you can then shake out the hair and razor cut the ends to soften the cut. This is always a good item if you have wavy hair.

Wavy and curly hair also needs to be trimmed every 8-10 weeks to keep the layers fresh. This is because naturally wavy hair is dryer than straight hair and tends to puff out more at the ends. When a curly hair cut is not maintained properly, the hair tends to be flatter at the top and middle while puffing out at the bottom. This is not a good look to have. Learn to cut your hair and you will not have to worry about this because you can cut it when it needs it. Curly hair can be cut in a short style, but should then only be cut close to the head and not more than 3 inches long to maintain balance. A longer cut is usually best!

7 Steps to Cut the Lace Wigs:

  1. Find the center of the front of the lace wigs and slide the thin hair clip vertically to mark the position. There should be two even lace pieces on each side of the clip.
  2. Clip the hair on either side of the center-marking clip back using the two large hair clips. This will keep any stray hairs from being cut.
  3. Cut away about a quarter-inch of the lace all around the front and sides of the wig. Do this using long, fluid scissor strokes to avoid jagged edges. It is best to cut away small portions of lace instead of all of it at once, since cutting away too much lace will ruin the wig.
  4. Remove the center-marking clip. Keep the hair clipped back, adjusting the clips as necessary.
  5. Cut the lace back towards the beginning of the hairline in the front. The lace that is on the forehead will be the most visible, so it should be cut back all the way to the hairline. Pull the lace tight with your fingers while cutting to ensure even, smooth strokes.
  6. Trim the sides of the lace front wigs so that only about an eighth-inch of lace protrudes out from under the hairline. It is not necessary to cut the lace all the way back on the sides, since this part is not as visible as the forehead area.
  7. Trim the sides of the lace front wig so that only about an eighth-inch of lace protrudes out from under the hairline. It is not necessary to cut the lace all the way back on the sides, since this part is not as visible as the forehead area.

Hair Tattoo – Learn to Cut the Latest Trend In Hair Art

You’ve seen them before, beautiful designs shaved on the scalps of young men…. this is known as a hair tattoo and is the latest trend in hair art.  Hair tattoos are cutting, shaving or molding symbols, images or pictures into hair.  This new hair cutting method and technique is a type of hair art, and demand for this skill is sweeping across the nation like wild fire.

A hair tattoo is generally a style worn by youths ages 18-29, but some kids as young as 10 also desire this style of doo.  This trendy and unconventional cut is attracting musicians, x-type athletes, gamers, and artists.  There is a definite lifestyle and image associated with this style of hair cut.

When getting a new hair styles someone usually brings in a picture to a salon to duplicate the same cut.  With a hair tattoo this practice is no different. Young men and women will bring in drawings, comic books, and logos for the pattern they want cut in their hair.  Because of this, a hair tattoo is a type of art, and is drawing the attention of skilled and aspiring hair artists.  This has not deterred youngsters from cutting styles into their friends hair, and often times they come out quite stylish and professional looking.

The rising demand for hair tattoos is turning hair art into a lucrative business.  A skilled hair artist cutting unique designs can charge upwards of $1,000 per client.  This is at the high end, however, and it is more typical to charge $50 to $100 on top of the cost of a hair cut.  Also, there is a growing advertiser demand for human hair billboards.  Clever marketers are cutting hair tattoo ads into the scalps of eager young entrepreneurs.

A hair stylist must be skilled to “carve” the tattoo image in hair.  Typically, the hair is shaved to about ¼ of an inch above the scalp where it is a ready canvas for the hair artist.  A carving blade and trimmers are used to cut the intricate and flowing designs we associate with a detailed hair tattoo.  Almost any design is possible in skilled hands, but mostly they are flowing lines, asymmetrical patterns, tribal looks, and unique symbols… but almost anything is possible. Unlike traditional hair art, color, paint, and dies are not used.  Only the canvas of the human head is needed.

The old school “I dare you” type Mohawk has been resurrected into a popular style in hair tattoos.  This has spawned a whole new cutting and shaving style that has morphed to a new style of art form and self expression.

Learning the skill of cutting a hair tattoo usually requires working as an apprentice under the guidance of a skilled hair artist.  Finding these apprenticeships are extremely difficult to nearly impossible.  Until now there has been scarce little information on how to cut a hair tattoo.  However, a first of its kind guide has been published on the art of hair tattoo.  Now is your opportunity to learn hair art and cut a hair tattoo today.  You can access this information at  Learn Hair Tattoo Hair Art

How to Cut Short Hair for Men and Women

Learning how to cut short hair on women or men like the pros doesn’t have to be a hard task. Once you understand a few basics on how hair falls or lays once its cut and styled. Then cutting your hair becomes so much easier to do.

You first will want to understand how to approach a haircut, by using your face shape and lifestyle as a starting point in your decision making when it come to your hair style and length to go with. Once you understand what style works well for you. Then making a decision on a style becomes simpler. Having a short haircut has always been a popular cut among men and kids. This length is also one of the most liked hair styles for women because it’s easy to manage. Not to mention that it’s a very attractive hairstyle and with peoples busy lifestyles, this is a great wash and dry maybe a little hair product and style cut.

To cut short hair on someone you will first need to have a couple of good quality hair tools, now I’m not talking about going out and spending a small fortune on high end equipment, (It does make it nice though) but a few affordable good quality items will work just fine. To start out with you’ll need a nice par of cutting scissors and some chippers with a set of guards. Most local beauty supply stores in your area will asset you with obtaining these items.

Advice for cutting your hair

For women you’ll want to be sure to have wet hair for more control when cutting. Be sure to keep very light to no tension when you comb and hold the hair before cutting, as wet hair stretches and will dry a bit shorter. This is especially true on wavy and really curly hair. If you’re not sure about cutting curly hair then no worries, just cut very small lengths at first. This will help ensure not cutting to much off. Now unless you are 100% sure, don’t cut Bangs or fringes wet and don’t cut them with any tension.

If you’re of the belief that a shorter hairstyle will only limit you to a single style, that perhaps you may want to rethink that idea. There are many variations of layering that can be done on short hair, which makes this a very versatile hair style, which is usually easier to care for and style. Another great thing about layering is it allows women with thin hair to add volume and women with thicker hair to reduce volume by texturising the layers or using thinning shears. This is what makes short hair a possibility for just about any type of hair.

Now for the men

I suggest using clippers when it comes a short hair cut for men and kids, unless you want a length that’s over an inch. When cutting with electric clipper be sure that the hair is dry. The chipper will work much better with dry hair. When you are using the clippers around the ears, be sure to choose a guard with the desired length on. The clipper guards are numbered, so if you use say a No.4 guard. Then that will cut the hair a half an inch, scalp to end.
